Canada Super Visa

Tourist Visa
Canada Super Visa
The Canada Super Visa is a special visa designed for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents, allowing them to visit Canada for extended periods. Here’s a breakdown of the key features and application process:
Who Can Apply
- Parents or grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
- Dependents of the parents or grandparents cannot be included in the Super Visa, but they can apply for a regular visitor visa.

Requirements
- Letter of Invitation: The Canadian citizen or permanent resident must provide a signed invitation letter, including details about the relationship, plans during the visit, and financial support.
- Proof of Financial Support: The sponsor (child or grandchild) must meet a minimum income threshold, which can be shown through their Notice of Assessment (NOA), employment letter, or other financial documentation.
- Medical Insurance: Applicants must have valid medical insurance from a Canadian company covering them for at least one year with a minimum coverage of CAD 100,000.
- Medical Examination: A medical exam may be required to ensure the applicant meets Canada's health standards.
Key Benefits
- Extended Stay: Unlike a regular visitor visa, the Super Visa allows eligible parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years per entry without needing to renew their status.
- Multiple Entries: It is a multi-entry visa, valid for up to 10 years, or until the passport expires.

Application Process
- Online Application: Applications are submitted online through the IRCC portal. Paper applications can also be submitted in some cases.
- Biometrics: Applicants may need to provide biometrics (fingerprints and a photo).
- Processing Time: The processing time varies by country, but it generally takes a few weeks to a few months.
Fees
- Visa Application Fee: The application fee is CAD 100, plus an additional fee of CAD 85 for biometrics, if required.

Income Threshold
- The Canadian host must meet the Low-Income Cut-Off (LICO) to prove they can financially support the visiting parent or grandparent. This amount depends on the number of family members and is updated yearly by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Visa Validity and Stay
- Visa Validity: The Super Visa is typically valid for up to 10 years, allowing for multiple entries during that time.
- Stay Duration: Each entry allows a stay of up to 5 years, significantly longer than the 6 months granted under a regular visitor visa.
This visa provides a great opportunity for families to stay connected while offering the flexibility of long-term visits without frequent renewals.
